Cofradía de Suchitlàn, known as Cofradía for short, is a typical hill country village in western Mexico with a population of about 2,000 people. It is located about 20 km north of the city of Colima in the state of Colima at an elevation of 4,200 feet.

Colima is the fifth smallest state in Mexico. The elevation ranges from the 13,600-foot peak of the Volcan de Fuego to the Pacific coastal plain. It’s bordered by the states of Jalisco and Michoacan, and on the southwest by the Pacific Ocean. Colima has great climatic contrasts between the coastal and mountain zones. The climate is warm and humid with an average temperature of 26º C. In the high altitude areas near the volcano, the climate is mild with an average temperature of 17º C.
