By Surface Mail

Please send all surface mail to Project Amigo's Novato address. Once every week or so, all the mail destined for the Colima offices of Project Amigo are sent there via FedEx. Please do not send any mail directly to Mexico, as the Mexican postal system is not reliable.

Can I write to my sponsored child?

Yes, please do.  We encourage you to send cards and letters to your child.  Please mail all letters to our Sebastopol address, with your child’s full name or ID# written on the envelope. You may write in English, and we will translate the letter before giving it to your child.  We’ll send your child’s replies to you via surface mail.

You may also write to your child via e-mail. If your student is in primary school, send the e-mail to:  kids@projectamigo.org and be sure to write your child’s name or ID # in the subject line of the e-mail.

If your student is in junior, senior high or college, he/she has his/her own e-mail address.  Please send us a note and we’ll send you your student’s e-mail address.  E-mail exchanges are faster than surface mail exchanges.  For surface mail, please allow six weeks for a reply.  For e-mails, be aware that some smaller villages don’t have internet access, and delays will occur in responding.

Packages

Every year Project Amigo gives away hundreds of items donated by Rotary Clubs and individuals in the United States -- everything from soccer uniforms to laptop computers. Please contact us if you would like to donate any items. All donations are tax deductible.
Most of these donations are brought to Mexico by visitors who bring them with their personal luggage, which is easy and inexpensive. Large items must be shipped which is costly and involves time-consuming paper work to obtain government authorization. Please do not send any donated items either to our Sebastopol address or to Mexico before discussing the donation with us. Please see our Wish List for more information about making in-kind donations.
Please do not send packages to your sponsored child using our Sebastopol address. These packages must be forwarded to Mexico and the customs duty which Project Amigo must pay usually exceeds the value of the gift. Also, do not send packages to Project Amigo in Mexico or directly to the child. The Mexican postal system is not reliable and they will likely not arrive.
